Thousands of Syrians work in the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, as they are oil-rich countries, while Syria is considered one of the poor countries, This is how the Syrian regime wanted to instill its belief in the minds of its people.
The truth says: Syria is a country rich in oil, and its resources are sufficient to generate an income for Syrians that is higher than the income of most European countries.
An employee of the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources told the March 18 ; On the twenty-sixth of October of the year (1966), the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources was established by the Decree No. (139), while exploration work began in the year (1933).
He added: The actual production of oil began in 1968, at the first construction pumping station in Tal Adas in the Hasakah governorate, which was pumped to the port of Tartous for export.
The employee stated that Syria’s oil production in 2010 was about 386 thousand barrels per day, and most of the oil fields are concentrated in the eastern region (Deir ez-Zor and Hasakah).
He pointed out that the most important of these fields in Deir Ezzor is the “Al-Omar field”, which is the largest oil field, and the “Al-Tanak field” and the fields of Al-Taym and Al-Ward, which produce about 50 thousand barrels per day, while in Al-Hasakah, the Rmeilan field, which includes (1233) wells. In addition to (25) wells of gas, the production of which exceeds (90) thousand barrels per day, and the fields of Al-Suwaydiyah, and their production is (116) thousand barrels per day.
He continued: The fields of Al-Shadadi, Al-Hol, and Al-Jibsa produce (30) thousand barrels per day, while the Homs governorate also includes a number of fields, including the Hayan field (6) thousand barrels per day, the Jazal field (3) thousand barrels per day, and the fields of Al-Shaer, Al-Hajjar, And Al-Mohr.
According to the British Oil Price website, it said in a report in October 2019: that Syria entered the record of oil countries fifty years ago, and the oil reserves amount to about (2.5 billion tons).
The American economist (Jeffrey Sachs) said: In October 2020, the Koniko plant, which is located next to the village of Theban, collects gas from other fields for processing, enough to meet the needs of (20) million people.
He pointed out that the Shaer field can fill the entire Syrian need, and export quantities of it.
The American expert added: The Jibsah field in Al-Hasakah can generate electric power from gas turbines due to its high flow.
The Al-Omar field in Deir Ezzor is the largest field in Syria, and the Al-Tanak field produces oil automatically, with a height of 12 meters, and the Kubaiba field.
Experts cannot open the pumps more than fifty percent for fear of exploding due to the high pressure.
oil at the disposal of close to Assad’s family ! Since the beginning of the eighties of the last century, Syrian oil has been in the hands of the Assad family, and oil resources have not been included in the state budget at all. Informed economic sources told the March 18 website that the Euphrates Oil Company and its shares were distributed to (65%) for the Syrian company, (35%) for the European companies, headed by Shell Oil Company , whose agency was taken over by (Mohammed Makhlouf), the brother of Hafez al-Assad’s wife.
It added; Ghassan Muhanna and businessman Nizar Al-Asaad, who are from the circle close to the Assad regime, and the owners of the Leeds company, which acquired the oil contracts for the benefit of Petro-Canada and its exclusive agent in Syria (Rami Makhlouf) Muhammad Makhlouf’s son .
Despite the huge production, it did not have any impact on the lives of the Syrians, as people suffered from poverty and unemployment. And it reported; This production, which was controlled by the Assad regime before the Syrian revolution, is sufficient to secure 80 million people, according to the American expert Jeffrey Sachs, who said: That Syria can live in eighty million people, with per capita income equivalent to per capita income in the Netherlands and Belgium!
The revolution revealed the real size of Syrian oil.
She explained that since the outbreak of the Syrian revolution, these fields become out the controlled of the Assad’s family and those close to him, only for the Syrians to discover that there are oil fields that were not previously mentioned in Assad’s media!
And it emphasized; These figures included oil, which was estimated at three and a half billion dollars annually, while there are wealth estimated at billions as well, such as phosphates, whose production is estimated at three and a half million tons annually, and produces about thirty million cubic meters of natural gas annually.
And it concluded: All this was pouring into dark bank accounts in European countries, until the Syrian revolution broke out, and discovered the extent of the theft of Syrian wealth by the Assad’s family, and stealing what is in the pockets of the Syrians.
